Independence, MO Circa 3000 A.D.
I had a vivid vision
Of strife and grand division:
Of earthquakes in all places
And tears upon all faces;
Famine and death – a million last breaths;
The earth left bereft of God’s graces.
But somewhere in Missouri
Was a nation in a hurry
To heal what was broken.
Their hearts were warm and open,
And justice and grace, science and faith,
Were honored like names, signs, and tokens.
A nation so united
No one would even fight it;
So good that even demons
Saw something to believe in.
Their holy bliss pierced through the abyss
Of humanity’s hell and made Eden.
I saw the Second Coming
Of Christ was really nothing
But a harvest AND a burning.
It’s tragedy AND learning.
Unending sorrows and joyous tomorrows –
Both promised.
Which one are you earning?
When the world falls apart, will you serve Him?
When the meek need rest, will you build the inn?
