Sweet is the Peace the Desert Brings

Have you ever heard

flaps of a desert crow’s wings

bouncing off orange earth;

That sweet percussion —

soft, rhythmic taps of snowflakes

slamming on slickrock.

…

That sacred moment

in this new temple you have

found. Have you ever

stood still as stone so

that you could listen to the

beating of your heart

and held your breath and

your saliva on your tongue

as to not

disturb?
